Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland, 1865
I have been enamored with the story
of Alice in Wonderland as long as I can remember.
and there is a lot of meaning in his
literary nonsense. I've seen various editions
and wildly different illustrations but
Leonard Weisgard did it best.
of more than 200 children’s books, was perhaps
best known for his collaboration with the author
I am obsessing over these prints from his
illustrations of the second editions of
Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass:

I'm embarrassed to admit that I just read Alice this year for the first time. I truly enjoyed it, and these illustrations are remarkable.
The childhood stories that I loved and still stick out in my mind (and that I may or may not still read over and over again) are The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (perfect for this time of year!) and Mandy by Julie Andrews.
