I'm Just Magenta

That’s what I call it when I get that way…
all kinds of feelings tumbling all over themselves.
Y’know…you’re not quite blue cause you’re not really sad.
And although you’re a little bit jealous,
you wouldn’t say you’re green with envy.
And every now and then you realize you’re kinda scared…
but you would hardly call yourself yella.
I hate that feeling!
I just hate it.  And I hate the color magenta.
That’s why I named it that.
Magenta.

I came across this today on Vanity Fair's blog and just had to share.

Hey there.

Hey there, sweets!

I had originally come here to fill you in on
some fab items that I have been lusting after.
But in light of the frightening disaster that has
effected those in Japan and around the World,
those things now seem so silly.

I hope you and your loved ones are safe
and may your weekend be filled
with blue skies and apple pie!

5 Things I'm Loving 3.10

1 | whites

Love, love, love all-white ensembles.
Because Easter comes late this year, I may be
breaking the ancient Southern rule of wearing
white during forbidden months.

2 | french words

I've been trying to learn a bit of
French over the last several months.
I could watch this gorgeousness over and over again.

I think Sweet Pig is

4 |  banana pudding milkshakes

Chick-fil-A has combined my two

Some people walk in the rain.

I woke up this morning to the sound of more rain.
It's the kind of rain that comes with gentle thunder
which provides perfect napping conditions.  I seriously considered
heading home at lunch for a quick siesta but I knew that it would
most likely result in me sleeping the afternoon away.
While rain brings on the yawns, I find it refreshing.
I actually like getting out and about on
rainy days – as long as it’s not a total downpour.

So last night, I had plans to go on a walk
with this cool chick.  We have been trying to get together
for months now and we were not going to let a
little rain stop us. So I rushed home, grabbed Sammy and off we went.
The cool air was nice but the dark trail was covered
in monster puddles which resulted in Sammy making
sure he splattered everything within a 10 foot radius.
Our walk was cut short by lightening and we found ourselves
in the midst of another storm.  So running back
to the car was an adventure.

Kat and Sammy are avid runners.

I am not.

Sammy sometimes looks
at me like “Hurry up, ma.  You’re so slow!”

He’s a great motivator and fun to take out
unlike his big sis.  Bailey-Brown has to be the fastest
one on the trail and if anyone jets past us, she’s off.
She could care less if it leaves you face-planting into concrete.

Which has happened.

More times than I care to relive.

I guess she lives by the rule "If you're not first, you're last."

Rain or shine, I hope you're enjoying your week!

Happy Mardi Gras!

I guess you could say that I started the Lenten season off early.
I did a lot of reflecting while on our trip - mostly pondering
my eternal list of fears and sorting out a few problems.
I must state here that I am so grateful for having a mate
who's biggest fear is wearing socks that don't match.
B continues to amaze me with his ability to go
about life accepting things as they are
and without an ounce of stress.

He gets this from his grandmother, no doubt.
Jane might be the most laid back human being to
ever walk the planet.  The lady seriously
doesn't seem to let anything faze her.
Something that I need to work on.

So in observance of Lent, I'm giving up worrying.

And wine.

Kind of like a detox for the body and soul...

“Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Tuesday Tunes 3.8

1 | Railroad Revival Tour

My 3 favorite folk bands are traveling across the US in
a vintage train for 1 week in April.  And whaddaya know?
The last stop is in New Orleans! Looks like our
Jazz Fest vacay just got a day longer.

2| SXSW Festival

Hopes of finding my way to SXSW this
year died a quick death.  Thankfully,
though, Bandcamp has put together tracks
from over 400 artists performing next week.

3| Daniel Romano - Time Forgot

Another folk artist on the rise.
New album releases in April and I can't wait.

4 | Dirty Dozen Brass Band

A little Dixieland jazz in honor of Mardi Gras.

I Love You For Who You Are

I woke up this morning to some mighty
good words of advice from a very dear friend.

Check it out.  I think we can all get something out of it.

"I LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE, not for what you do.
Many voices vie for control of your mind, especially when you
sit in silence. You must learn to discern what is My voice and
what is not. Ask My Spirit to give you this discernment. Many of
My children run around in circles, trying to obey the various
voices directing their lives. This results in fragmented, frustrating
patterns of living. Do not fall into this trap. Walk closely with Me
each moment, listening for My directives and enjoying
My Companionship. Refuse to let other voices tie you
up in knots. My sheep know My voice
and follow Me wherever I lead.”
Ephesians 4:1 – 6; John 10:4

the Year by Sarah Young

5 Things I'm Loving

Just a quick post before I head off for a mini-vacay.
I am in desperate need of rest and relaxation.
Hopefully sand under my toes and a view
of the ocean will cure the "crazies"!

1| My Ahhmazing Friends

I have the most fabulous set of friends who provide so
much support and understanding.  I know I've had to lean on
you a lot lately and I appreciate the fact that you're still
putting up with me.  And some of you I haven't seen in
2 years or more but knowing that you're an email or phone call
away helps me sleep better at night.

2| Today's Letters

This couple is not only adorable, but also incredibly inspiring.
Their letters to each other never fail to leave me in a good mood
and thankful that I, too have someone really special to share life with.

3| Kate Spade Elephant Bag

I recently came across this guy and immediately fell hard.
Not that I would actually purchase and carry a bag shaped like an
animal - but I actually had something similar when I was
around 5 years old.  Loved that thing.
And wouldn't a larger version
make a great picnic basket?

4| Haircuts

I'm getting a long-overdue haircut this afternoon and I have
no idea what to do.  So I think for once in my life, I'm going to
leave it completely up to the stylist.
Maybe I have gone crazy...

5| Matchbook

This brand spankin' new digital magazine has great content,
fabulous interviews and a strong focus on the classics.
Check out the new issue here.

And I'm off.  Toodles!
