Be back soon!

Well, hey there! I know I've been a bad blogger
but I've got to get focused on some other
stuff for awhile. I'll be back soon.

Promise promise!

5 Friday Faves

1 | J Crew Fall 2012

 via
Loving the mix of patterns and the retro silhouettes.
No doubt there's going to be several pieces
coming to live in my closet.

2 | Jack White at Workplay

via
I scored two tickets to Jack White's March show at Workplay,
a super cool music venue here in Birmingham.
The show sold out in 9 minutes! This lucky girl is very happy.

3 | Windows Draped in Sunshine

I need these bright yellow drapes in my life right now.

4 | Wrap Watches

Everyone needs a bright punch of color!
And hot pink is all over the place this year.

I Heart Sophia Grace & Rosie

I am most positive you are familiar with the adorable, tutu-clad
Sophia Grace and her sidekick, Rosie, but I can't get enough of them.
Their abundance of confidence and energy is mesmerizing.
Which makes them perfect for manning the red carpet at awards shows.
Check out these hilarious clips from the AMAs and the Grammys.

I mean seriously.

1 | Super funny and perhaps spot-on
commentary on the Pinterest obsession.
"Pinterest seems to reaffirm our investment in
the superficial, and in what we still hope we'll
find in that beautiful heap to satisfy us in a
dirty and disorganized world." {excerpt}

2 | Pretty much, if you add goat cheese to
anything, I'll eat it. These quesadillas were fantastic!
And relatively easy. Tip: this recipe makes a lot of quesadilla
mix and avocado dip. I didn't think about it beforehand
and ended up with enough triangles for a cocktail party.

3 | I have always adored red lips but I can never seem
to pull them off without feeling like a 6 year-old playing
in her Mother's makeup bag. Glamour to the rescue!
I tried this tutorial at home last night and today
I'm sporting a scarlet pout. I think it looks good!

Have you discovered any hot links this week?

My Kind of Valentine

Honestly, I have never been a big fan of the holiday.
It's always seemed a little silly and forced.
Who needs a specific day to make
their loved ones feel special?

Maybe I'm just a bah humbug when
it comes to chalky, pastel hearts.

And it never fails that B is traveling
on this special day - four years in a row.
Every year that we've been married, I've spent
the night in, doing what I want, eating what want
and in complete control of the TV remote.

Now that's my kind of valentine.

I know I probably seem like an unromantic fuddy-duddy
but I always do something to make him feel special.
This year he's getting tickets to Jack White.

Okay, so the Jack White tickets are for me...

And in lieu of elbowing my way through the card aisle
at Hallmark, I decided to make cards using RedStamp.

The browns also got in on the action.

If you don't already have this app, download it now.
Letting someone know you're thinking about
them has never been so eazy-peazy!

Yes you can!

5 | Musical Gifts from B

Today's Pick
Each week, the husband sends me various links
to super cheesy music videos, totally at random times.
His selection varies from really old rap to 80s soft rock hits.
And he LOVES Steve Winwood.

May your weekend be filled with the finer things!

Railroad Revival

Excited about this:

"Mumford and Sons have unveiled the trailer
for their new tour film Big Easy Express.

The documentary follows the band on their
Railroad Revival Tour of the US in spring 2011, which
saw them hit the road on a train with the likes of
Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes and
Old Crow Medicine ShowIt saw all three bands eat,
sleep and record music on the train, which consisted
of 15 vintage railcars from the '50s and '60s.

According to a post on the band's official website,
MumfordAndSons.com, the film is set to be premiered
at this year's SXSW Film Festival, which takes
place between March 9-17." -- NME Magazine

Drive

B and I watched Drive over the weekend
and I must say it was one of the best
films I've seen in a long, long time.

Terrifically written and directed, it's kind of an
'80s-inspired romantic thriller that's full of stoplights,
headlights, window glare, and Ryan Gosling deliciousness.
Carey Mulligan was great too - even if she only spoke at most
a dozen words throughout the entire movie. Actually, no one
really talks a lot but that's the beauty of the writing.
No one has to speak to convey what's actually going on.

It's a little violent - okay, it's A LOT violent - but
couldn't turn away. I was completely wrapped
up from the beginning to the end, mainly due to
quiet, deathly still moments that linger for
just the right amount of time.

And then BAM!

You're left with your mouth hanging open,
thinking did that really just happen?

Also, the soundtrack is exceptional.

While it can't stand on it's own, there is one super
cool track that I have been slightly obsessed with for days now.

What new or new-ish films are on your must-see list?

The End of a Season

Now THIS is a great weight-loss tool!

This was one of my favorite spots of the night.

We had a couple of friends and their little ones over
for a super casual Super Bowl party. I had originally
planned to play host to everyone we knew in town
but I was just not up to it. Trying to keep the
stress level at a minimum these days - even if it
means taming my inner party animal.

Though I was busy painting and repainting a
3 year-old's tiny nails, playing a horses, and reading
Garden & Gun to a 6 month old, I did get to enjoy the
half-time show. I had been super pumped about
Madonna's performance for awhile so you can imagine
my excitement when she opened up with Vogue.

At 53, girl's still got it.

I could have done without Nicki Minaj and
MIA's finger-flippin'  - and some of the dance moves
had me cringing - but overall, it was my 2nd favorite
Super Bowl half-time show of all time.

It's gonna be real hard for someone to beat

Happy that we got to celebrate two
national championships this year but BOY am
I glad football is over for awhile.

A Friday Note

I started a Friday Faves post earlier in the week
but I just do not have the energy to finish it up.

I know ya'll were anxiously awaiting its arrival!

Thing is, my mind is racing today
and I can't seem to concentrate on much.

So ponder this and have a fabulous weekend!

Much love,

Weighing In

8 lbs!!

I had another training session and thought for
certain that Chris was trying to kill me.
I survived and surprisingly, I am not that sore today.

She also gave me a new schedule:

3 days of "lazy" cardio
This means on my "off" days, I hop on the treadmill
or the elliptical for 30 minutes for interval training.

3 days of a strength/cardio mix
This is tough!
5 minutes of cardio at a high resistance and
fast pace (think slow jog up to a sprint).
After my 5 minutes are up, I do 3 different weight
machines for legs or arms. Alternate until
I've done 45 minutes of cardio.

I also discovered a new machine! I have no idea
what it's called but I love it. Mainly, because it really targets
your tummy, butt, and thighs. It works kind of like an
elliptical but you feel like you're on skis trying to get
some momentum going on a flat slope.
Does that make any sense?

We also discussed my diet.
I've been really stressed at work and haven't
been sticking to my food plan very well.
New challenge for the week:
eat clean for at least 3 days.

While I haven't noticed a big difference in
any specific part of my body, I have way more energy.

Hoping to lose 2 big ones by next Thursday!

Thanks, Phil
